In their first foray into the graphic novel format, Shannon and Dean Hale tell the story of Rapunzel – with a twist. It starts off much the same as the fairy tale – Rapunzel is trapped in a tower by the witch who raised her, but instead of being saved by a handsome prince, she escapes on her own. As she makes her way back to her village, she runs into Jack (of beanstalk fame), and they embark on many adventures, avoiding the bad guys with the aid of Rapunzel’s hair. A fun look at a classic tale. (Grades 6 & up)
