Still they remain in poverty until she meets Paulie, a handsome, street-tough guy with a bad reputation, who encourages her to take a job as a taxi dancer. Ruby begins to earn money by dancing with lonely men at the Starlight Dance Academy, but she quickly begins to become immersed in the seedier side of Chicago’s nightlife.
